Biography

Augustin Proulx was born 8 Nov 1869 and baptized the following day in the parish of Saint-Thomas, Montmagny, Canada, Nouvelle-France. He was the son of Joseph Baptiste Proulx and Marie Genevieve Jeannot and his godparents were François Proulx and Marie Joseph Proulx. ^[1]

Augustin Proulx, son of Joseph Proulx and Genevieve Janot, and Marie Catherine Forbes, daughter of Luc Forbes and the late Marie Elisabeth Vachon dite Pomerleau were married 24 Jan 1786 in the parish of Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce, Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce, Province de Québec. ^[2]

Augustin Proulx, of the age of fifty-three years, died 15 Aug 1819 and was buried the following day in the cemetery of Notre Dame, Montréal, Bas-Canada. Present at the burial were Charles Desautel and Antoine Billet. ^[3]

Research Note

Augustin Proulx’s wife is recorded as Marie Catherine in their marriage record. All other records list her name as some combination of Marie Louise Sophie Forbes.
