Charles was the son of Charles Purves and Elizabeth Nisbet In the 1861 census Charles (age 34), Fisherman, was the head of household in Beech-hill, Coldingham, Berwickshire.^[1] In the 1881 census Charles (age 54), Fisherman, was the head of household in Shore No. 1. Upper Row, Coldingham, Berwickshire.^[2]
