Biography

Zepherin Rachal was born 16 June 1817 to Jean Baptiste Rachal and Marie Lemoine and was baptized on 14 April 1819.^[1] In 1860 he was living in Natchitoches, Louisiana.^[2] The 1860 census record states he was born in Alabama but this seems unlikely - the Rachal family came from Louisiana and his younger brother was born and baptized in Natchitoches.^[3]
