Frances E Ralls (Fanny) was born August 24, 1868 to James WIlliam Ralls and Ann Eliza Brashears in Ralls County, Missouri, USA.[1]
Fanny married Robert McAlpin Richardson, 1890 in Perry, Ralls, Missouri, USA. [2][3]
They resided in El Paso, Texas about 6 -8 years where McAlpin had been working following his graduation from A & M College in 1881 as English/Spanish interpreter and accountant for El Paso Smeltering Works. The 2 eldest children were born in El Paso, Texas.
About 1896 they moved to Albany, Shackleford, Texas where his mother, Fannie McAlpin Richardson Clark had a ranch and the family lived. McAlpin bred his cattle there in Shackelford and Stephens counties. McAlpin purchased some land in Bowie, Texas. However he heard of people homesteading in the Texas panhandle where land could be obtained by the homestead law.
1900 Census reflects the brothers and Alvino began moving his cattle to the Texas Panhandle (Hansford County).[4]Once he, brother Jim and half brother, Hines reached the land in the panhandle, McAlpin built a shed on the land for his family and another on land for his brother and sister ( part of the requirement to begin the homestead). The brother and sister couldn't stand the severe cold winters and returned to south Texas after one year. [2]
McAlpin then filed for a Homestead in 1903 under the Homestead Act. [5]
McAlpin Richardson and Fanny Ralls Richardson had 3 sons and 2 daughters:
McAlpin's health began to fail by 1910. [6]. He bred his cattle, also sold milk to people, he delivered mail to Spearman and Oslo, and taught school at times. As McAlpin became more incapacitated, he or Alvino would tie the cows hind legs together so the cows would not kick Fanny as she milked them. [2] By 1918, McAlpin passed away. Burial was in Hansford County Cemetery.[7]
Alvino inherited the ranch, which he had been running for several years, and taking care of his father and mother, as well as youngest brother. The 1920 census shows Fanny still at the ranch, [8] After this they moved to the town of Spearman, Texas and lived at 303 S Barkley St. [9] After Gene married, Fanny continued to live with Gene and his wife.
Wheat was raised in Hansford county. By 1930 Fanny and youngest son, Gene were living in Amarillo, Texas [10]
Fanny passed away in May 5, 1936 in Quanah, Hardeman Co, Texas. She was buried in Hansford County Cemetery beside her husband. [11] [12][13][14]FamilySearch Fannie Ralls Death Certificate
