Biography

Arthur was born in 1893^[1] in Langley Mill, Derbyshire, England. He was the son of John Rawlins Redgard and Isabella Bedford Slack. The family lived in Heanor, Derbyshire, in 1901;^[2] by 1911 they had moved to Greasley, Nottinghamshire, where Arthur worked as a coal mine gauger.^[3]

In 1916 Arthur married Hannah Meakin.^[4] The family lived in Greasley in 1921, when Arthur was a coal hewer.^[5] At the time of the 1939 register the Redgards lived on Oldfield Road in Thorne, Yorkshire. Arthur was a coal merchant.^[6]

Arthur died in 1961 at the age of 68.^[7]
