- 1st. 1872 Mary Faber (1836–1880), one daughter
- 2nd. 1881 Mary Angeline Shode (1850–1942), eight children
"Jacob enlisted in Co H, 147th O.V.I. 2 May 1864 but was rejected because of his age. [He and his first wife] lived with his parents until 1876 when they moved to a farm in Newton, [then] to near Versailles [for a] year and in 1876 returned to the Newton Twp farm. He and his brother Tennessee owned a steam thrasher doing custom work. ... Jacob & [second wife] Angie were living in Versailles OH in 1920." (Honeyman & McDaniel 1998)
Jacob Rench (M) died 17 Sep 1921 Leonidas, St. Joseph, Michigan, of "apoplexy." He was a farmer, married, aged 74 yr 6 mo 8 days, born in Ohio, son of Jacob Rench and Sarah Boggs. (St Joseph Co, Michigan Deaths, vol 3 p 171; image 176)
