Biography

Joseph was born in 2 Jun 1806. He was the son of Nathaniel Reynolds and Elizabeth Ann Bowyer. He married Phoebe Bush. Phoebe passed away 2 June 1845, in Hardin County, Kentucky. Joseph married Lydia Evelyn Burton 8 Apr 1850, in Hardin County, Kentucky.

Joseph drowned Thursday 24 May 1866, in the Cottonwood River while attempting to cross it in a canoe with supplies. His body was recovered 5 days later, about 2 1/2 miles from where he drowned. He was buried in Maplewood Cemetery in Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas.

Note

There are two men named Nathaniel that is believed to be the father of Dr. Joseph Boyer Reynolds: Nathaniel and wife Elizabeth Ann Bowyer. The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) shows Joseph Boyer Reynolds as son of Nathaniel Reynolds and Catherine Vernon, in one descendant listing.^[1] Descendants are divided on which one is correct.
