Biography

Giuseppa Rizzo is a Corleone native resident, the daughter of Domenico and Laura Rizzo. Her mother's surname is not yet known. I estimate Giuseppa is born around 1667, twenty years before her first marriage.

Giuseppa marries at least three times, first to Domenico d'Angelo, son of Maestro Francesco and the late Simona d'Angelo, on 10 September 1687. Giuseppa's parents are both living.^[1]

Giuseppa remarries on 16 March 1693 to Giovanni Ducibella, who is the widower of Rosa.^[2] As is typical of marriages between widows in this time period, their parents are not named, and Rosa's surname is not given. According to their 1662 marriage, Giovanni's late wife is Rosalia, widow of Giovanni la Licata, from Villafranca Sicula (Villefranche).^[3]

Giuseppa marries again on 28 April 1697, to Leonardo Grizzaffi, who is also a widower. According to this marriage record, Leonardo and his first wife are also known by the surname "Pillicamorto."^[4]

Leonardo and Giuseppa have at least three children: Caterina (c. 1699), Rosa (c. 1705), and Giuseppe (c. 1705).

I have estimated each of their children is around 20 years old at marriage.

Caterina marries Antonino Marranea on 11 June 1719. Leonardo has died by this time.^[5]

Rosa marries Giovanni Tramacchi, a widower, on 13 January 1725.^[6]

Giuseppe marries Anna Maria Vecchio on 4 November 1725. Giuseppa has died by this time.^[7]
