According to his Find a Grave memorial[11] he served in Company F. 12th Indiana Cavalry in the Civil War. He gave his residence as Cass Co., IN. when he enlisted on Dec 12, 1863. He was mustered in on Dec 15, 1863 at Logansport, IN., into Company F. 127th Indiana Infantry designated the 12th Indiana Cavalry. He was mustered out at Vicksburg, MS. on Nov 10, 1865 after the end of the war.
