This person is an ancestor of President Abraham Lincoln.
There is a documentation that indicates he was the son of Henry and Anna Salter of the same county.[1]
The birth and death of Richard is undocumented, but we know his death was after 1728, as he was acting Judge of his county at that date.[1] Dates on Find A Grave: Memorial #48919219 Middletown Baptist Churchyard, Middletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey are NOT substantiated, and where he was buried is Unknown. By 1690 he was well involved in the politics of the area, leading one to believe that he was born around 1660[1]
Sources indicate that he and Sarah married in 1693, although an original record has not been found.[2] Unfortunately, that puts the birth of several of the children attributed to Richard and Sarah outside their marriage.
Richard Salter was a lawyer, judge and colonial legislator of Monmouth County, New Jersey.[3]
Family
Richard Salter married Sarah Bowne, Daughter of Capt. John Bowne and Lydia Holmes Bowne.
They had the following Children:
Thomas Salter
John Salter
Hannah Salter
Richard Salter
William Salter
Ebenezer Salter
James Salter
Deborah Salter
Oliver Salter
Other children have been attributed to them but not proven.[1]
Guardianship of Dinah Dewilde
Dinah Dewilde's father, John Dewilde Sr. died about Apr 1704. There is an inventory for his estate and the administration of the estate is given to Daniel Cox because John owed him money. Henry Dewilde was probably made guardian of Dinah till his death in 1708, at which time, there is a record of Anthony Woodward and Richard Salter being made guardians of Dinah and administrators of John's estate. It seems reasonable that Dinah met John Liming her future husband because she was living with Richard Salter. Richard's daughter Deborah Salter also married into the Liming Family.

As it has been over a year since the request was made for sources for the daughter, Deborah, I have left a note on the profile and will be removing as a daughter.
There is no proof that Richard had a daughter named Deborah and there is no proof that the Deborah who married William Liming was a Salter. It was an opinion offered with no proof in Earl Leming's 1937 book on the family. It was taken as fact in many trees. So the musing of how Dinah Dewilde met John Liming is speculation and not fact. Please change. If you do have any proof of Deborah as a child of Richard or wife of William Liming I would love to see it.
