James Carmichael Seaton was born on 26 October 1780 in Loudon County, Virginia and died 7 May 1839 in Uniontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He was buried at Great Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Uniontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. [1] James was the son of Francis Seaton and Rebecca Gregg.
The Genealogical and Personal History of Fayette County Pennsylvania. United States: Lewis historical publishing Company, Hadden, James., Jordan, John Woolf, 1912, Volume 1, page 118 states that the grandparents of James Seaton were George Seaton and Elizabeth Hill, and that James was born around 1770. He married Elizabeth Swan and had a son, Hiram.
According to the Find a Grave memorials, James's parents were Francis Seaton and Rebecca Gregg and the parents of Francis were James Seaton and Elizabeth Kenner, not George and Elizabeth Hill. This would not allow for the connections between the senior Seatons from the biographies.
Also, the biography for Charles S Seaton, child of Hiram (son of James and Elizabeth Swan) and Sarah Voorhees Seaton, states that Charles was raised by his grandmother, Elizabeth, (Swan). Charles was born in 1824, and his mother Sarah died shortly afterward.
