John Edward Shevills was born before 30 September 1857 in Chester le Street, Durham^[1]. Although his birth record is in the name of Shefills he was known throughout his life as Sheavils.

John married Sarah Jane Thompson

Their children were:

1. Edward Binney Metcalfe Sheavils (1898-bef.1972)

John died in February 1925 in Durham^[2] and was laid to rest at Stanley New Cemetery, Stanley, Durham^[3].
