By 1950, Rosalee's parents moved the family to Gridley, Butte, California, where she grew up.[2] The family was a member of the Gridley Evangelical Church and in the Youth Group of that church, she first met her eventual husband.[3]
She was married on 3 September 1960, in Chico, Butte, California, to Kenny Lee Smith,[4] son of Everett LeRoy Smith and Virgie Almina Ogle.[5] They immediately moved to San Luis Obispo where Ken studied Architectural Engineering and Rosalee was an accountant. Then two years later they returned to Chico, Bute, California.

A widowed Bessie Beatrice Brown Woodmansee was the mother of Roberta and Ralph when she married the milk man, Harold Shifflet, and they added Rodger and then a few years later, Rosalee in Sacramento, CA, on January 30, 1941. Roberta and Ralph each predeceased Rosalee in passing, and we lost Rodger to illness two days before Rosalee passed on December 14, 2021, peacefully in our home in Boise Idaho.
Growing up in the Gridley Evangelical Church, Rosalee’s love was doing financial books and was a bookkeeper as a sophomore in Gridley High School.
She met Ken in the Youth Group of that Gridley church. He was 153 days younger than her, so he was an “underclassman” in school. They married on September 3, 1960, in Chico, CA, and immediately moved to San Luis Obispo where Ken studied Architectural Engineering and she was an accountant.
They moved back to Chico in 1962 where she worked with another accountant and Ken finished school. Their firstborn, [son redacted], came on March 8, 1964, before they moved to Fremont, CA, where Ken started his teaching career. On December 28, 1965 they were blessed with [daughter redacted].
Rosalee went back to work “just to make a down payment on a home” and retired 46 years later in Pleasanton, CA, as an accountant and an EA for the IRS but continued to work part-time until she felt her memory was affecting her work.
She loved being in Hawai’i, where she and Ken spent 591 total days, as well as cruising, with 189 days at sea. She loved the many new friends that they both met on those many trips.
She loved sewing and enjoyed making shopping bags, coin purses and quilts, which she sold at shows with Kim. To keep her mind “functioning,” she spent hours playing Sudoku.
[Her surviving family has been redacted for privacy as of December 2023.]
