My gr-gr-grandmother Mary Elizabeth Sigler married my gr-gr-grandfather, William J. Goodwin in Putnam Co., 16 March 1852. I am searching for what happened to her mother and father. I believe she was born in Greencastle and I know that by 1850 she was living with her brothers, Hiram and Isaac. I understand that she was orphaned at an early age. Any suggestions as to where I might find information? Mary was born in 1833 and she was the youngest child. She was Methodist later in life but I don't know whether she was of this religion as a child. Is there a list of cemeteries that I can obtain in this area? Mary's parents were Eli Sigler and Rhoda Hurley. Any help will be appreciated.

HIGHTOWER 20 Apr 1902 in Canon City, Colorado. He was born 1819.

Notes for MARY ELIZABETH SIGLER: Mary's father died in IA. Her mother Rhoda abandoned her and was never heard from again. Mary's brother Isaac sent for her and brought her back to IN.

Note: Mary's mother and father die somewhere in Wisconsin/Iowa Territory. Their place of death, manner, and date have yet to be found. Mary and her sister Julia Alice are found again in the 1850 Federal Census, Mary is living with her brother Isaac next door to William J Sigler. Julia Alice is living with Daniel Sigler.

Mary moved to Canon City, Colorado in 1900 with her son Lewis and his wife Clara. She remarried on 20 Apr 1902 to J.H. Hightower. She died several months later on Sept. 6 1902.
