Biography

George was born in 1798. He passed away in 1863.

George Simington married Lydia Lamasters on 2 July 1818 in Harrison, Ohio, United States.[1]

Military Record

Enlisted: 1 October 1861 - Third Kansas Battery, Light Artillary George enlisted as a Private, but he made Corporal on 28 October 1861. He became ill after te Battle of Maysville in Arkansas and died in Neosho, Missouri on 19th day of 1863.

There is a mass burial for soldiers located in the rear of this cemetery. It is thought that he is probably interred here.

State of Illinois, Edwards County

Personally appeared before the undersigned authority in and for said County, Levinus Harris formally 2nd Lieutenant, 3rd Kansas Battalion formerly Co. B 2nd Kansas Calvary, who after being duly sworn according to law on his oath deposes and says that he was personally acquainted with Corporal George Simington, late of Company 13th2nd Kansas Calvary; that the said George Simington died of chronic diarrhea and Neosho in the state of Missouri on the 19th day of March 1863; that said disease was contracted from exposure in January 1863 at Marysville, Arkansas and was in the line of duty as a soldier. That is knowledge of the above facts is obtained from being associated with him and a number of the same company. He further states that he's not interested and Mrs. Simington's application for pension. Signed Lebanese Harris

Sworn to and subscribed before me this 8th day of June 1865, and I certify that I am not interested in Mrs. Simington application for pension
