Mary is considered one of the "Mythical Daughers of Nathaniel Soule" and Rose Thorn in an article by Robert Charles Anderson in The American Genealogist, vol. 57 (1981), pp. 193-202, and has been disconnected from these parents. Note: the Soule Kindred Name Index of 1986 does not mention a Mary who married a Shrieve. As she married 1714, she would have likely been younger than her husband and also over 21. As her only reported child was born after 7 years of marriage, she probably ended child-bearing around age 32 years, instead of the more usual ending around age 43 years. This Mary with a marriage to Shrieve is not found in the most recent MFIP Soule 'pink book" of 2015. Perhaps she had another surname, such as Soul, Saul or Sewell??

The latest book including another Mary Soule, daughter of George and Susannah (Eaton) Soule, finds Joshua and Mary Coggeshall petitioning in 1719 for a share in the estate of her grandfather George Soule [see Louise Walsh Throop, "Francis Eaton of the Mayflower (1586-1633)..." (Sunol CA, 2023), pp. 79-80, Family Group #61]. This book is available on demand through lulu press.

"Mythical Daughers of Nathaniel Soule" is the title of an article by Robert Charles Anderson in The American Genealogist, vol. 57 (1981), pp. 193-202. Anderson concludes that there is "powerful evidence" that Nathaniel's only surviving children were his four sons; and that there was "no direct or indirect evidence" connecting the three alleged daughters to Nathaniel. I read the article and now understand why the 2006 Mayflower Society book on George Soule specifically says they do not belong. I think we should disconnect, the three daughters: Mary Soule-132, Susannah Soule-133 and Sarah Soule-167 from parents Nathaniel Soule-89 and Rose Thorn-50.
