History
Morehouse College was established in 1867 in Augusta, Georgia as the Augusta Institute by Rev. William Jefferson White.[1] It moved to Atlanta in 1879 becoming Atlanta Baptist Seminary and later Atlanta Baptist College. In 1906, John Hope became president of the college and expanded the curriculum. [2] In 1913, he institution acquired the name it has today, Morehouse College.[3]
