Biography

Samuel Sparkes migrated from England to New Zealand.

Samuel was born in 1867, possibly in Westminster, London. He was the son of William Alfred Sparkes and Lucy Poynter.

He emigrated to New Zealand in 1875 on the Collingwood.

In 1888 he married Mary Elizabeth Pinfold.

He passed away in 1927, aged 59, and was buried at Karori Cemetery.

"SPARKES—On February 10, 1927, at 8 Newtown Avenue, Samuel Martin, dearly beloved husband of Mary Elizabeth Sparkes, in his 59th. year. At rest."^[1] (Dominion, Volume 20, Issue 118, 12 February 1927, Page 1)
