Biography

Yvonne was born in 1949. She was the daughter of Galpine Sparkes and Pearl Goobie. She passed away in 2022.

Obituary

Passed away peacefully in the presence of family at the Pleasantview Towers in St. John’s at the age of 73. Predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Cooper; parents Galpine & Pearl Sparkes; and sisters Genevieve (Parsons) & Judy (Morris). Leaving to mourn daughter Lesley White (Darren), son Andrew Cooper (Melissa); grandchildren Byron White, Leigha Snow-White, George Cooper, Violet Cooper; great grandchildren Gabrielle White, Isabelle White, Jayla White; and her only brother Lester Ray Sparkes (RJ).

Born in Glenwood, and moved to St. John’s as a young girl, where she later met her husband and raised her family. She retired from the Scotiabank in 1998 and then spent time abroad with her loving husband. Together they spent time with the Salvation Army in Africa, Kuwait, Iraq, and Ground Zero and with CNA in Qatar.

Family will receive visitors at Barrett’s Funeral Home, St. John’s, on January 6th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral will be held at Salvation Army Citadel, Adams Ave. on January 7th at 2 p.m. Following the funeral service Yvonne and Lloyd will be laid to rest at the Salvation Army Cemetery on Blackmarsh Road.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Yvonne’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
