David Spears is a part of US Black heritage.

Private David Spears served in the United States Civil War. Enlisted: 13 May 1863 Mustered out: 29 Aug 1865 Side: USA Regiment(s): Company A, 55th Regiment, Massachusetts Infantry (Colored)
David was born about 1844. He was 19 when he enlisted in the Union Army during the American Civil War. [1] He was wounded in the Battle of Honey Hill, but recovered and rejoined his unit. [2]
He died 18 May 1933 at his home in Xenia, Greene County, Ohio, after being burnt from a lantern that caught fire when he lit it.[3]
