Born at home in Plaistow. Finished school at 14 and went to work. Trooper 7881077, 2nd Battalion, Royal Tank Corps, 1929-1935, where he completed his High School; called up to Royal Armoured Corps, 1939-1946. Captured during the Defense of Calais, 24 May 1940, POW in Stalag XXA, Thorne, Poland; escaped through Eastern Europe to Odessa, 6 Mar 1945. Took one year emergency teacher training at Bognor Training College, 1946-1947, then taught at Nyewood Church of England School, 1947 - 1957. Elementary School Principal (Headmaster) in Duncan, British Columbia, 1958 to retirement in 1977. Became Canadian Citizen 10 Mar 1969. Through the University of Victoria earned a BEd (Sec) in 1965, and an MA in 1971. Worked overseas in Missions in Hawaii, Ireland, Nepal, Liberia, Japan, retiring from this in 1986. In 1982 he wrote "As a boy of 14 yrs I was convicted of my need for a Saviour in a Brethren meeting in East London and after a miserable week came to the Lord at a local Four-Square Gospel Elim Church, committing my life to Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. That was April 1926, fifty six years ago, fifty six years of blessings from my ever faithful Lord."
