Captain Frederick Stegner was killed during the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain during United States Civil War.
Frederick was born in 1830 in Germany. He was the son of John Stegner and Sophia.
He came to the United States with his family in 1839. [1]
On August 9, 1862 Frederick enlisted as First Lieutenant in Company I, 74th Regiment, Illinois Infantry. In April 1863 he was commissioned as Captain.

He was killed June 27, 1864 during the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain.[5][6][7]
