Hiram Nelson Steinman was born on June 13, 1910 in Nebraska, United States, son of Frank Steinman (1872–1944) and Nellie Grant Ross (1879–1937).

Hiram married Beverly Bernice Brewer (born on December 6, 1918 in West Virginia, United States).

In the 1920 census Hiram (age 10) was the son of Frank Steinman in Dawes, Nebraska, United States.^[1] Frank Steinman 47, wife Nellie Steinman 40, son Elmer Steinman 14, daughter Daisy Steinman 13, daughter Agnes Steinman 11, son Hiram Steinman 10, son Freddie Steinman 5.
