Biography
Astrid was born in 1872. She was the son of Gustav Strand and Sophie Bergstedt.
The 1892 New York State Census showed her living with her parents in Brooklyn. She was working as a dressmaker.
She married Christian Miller on 1 Sep 1896. They had a daughter Elsie on 4 Dec 1898 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York.
The 1900 United States Census enumerated on 5 June 1900 showed them living in Brooklyn. Astrid's parents were living with them and their daughter Elsie.
Astrid's husband Christian died on 17 Jul 1900. She was pregnant for her second daughter Isabel, who was on 14 Aug 1900.
About 1903 (or before) Adrid married Gustav A Lange. Their daughter Melide (Mildred) was born 29 May 1904.
Astrid died 16 April 1906 leaving Gustav with 3 young daughters to raise. Because he was a "light ship" captain for the United States government in New York, he was forced to put the girls into an orphanage. He married Elizabeth Johnston on 9 Sep 1908, and he and Elizabeth raised the girls together.
