OBITUARY. MR. J. SUTERS. The death occurred on Saturday, 13th November, at Wildfels Hospital, of Mr. John Suters, at the age of 83 years. 8Deceased was born at Avoca, Vic- toria, and was interested, in his early manhood, in agriculture, shearing and gold mining. He came to the Hastings River in 1882, and at first worked on his father's property at Sarah's Creek, and later purchased land at King Creek, where he resided until about five years ago. He married Miss Maud Powell, who predeceased him 23 years ago, and is survived by three sons, Noel (Dubbo), Norman (Dyer's Crossing), Athol (Newcastle) and two daugh- ters, Lita (Mrs. F. .Genge, Enfield), and Elma (Mrs. L. Irwin, Hamilton, Newcastle). Also surviving are a brother (Henry, Wauchope), and three sisters, Jane(Mrs. Martin, Taree), Elizabeth (Mrs. Norrie, El- lenborough) and Miss Annie Suters (Wauchope). Brothers who pre- deceased him are James, William, George and Thomas ; sisters, Emily (Mrs. Payne) and Kathleen (Mrs. Riley). Until a few months ago, the sub- ject of this notice always enjoyed splendid health and was remarkably active. However, while watching the loading of timber at Wauchope Rail- way Station an accident occurred which necessitated many weeks in hospital with a broken leg. He made an excellent recovery, but later his health failed. The late Mr. John Suters was very widely known and highly respected. Of a quiet manner, he enjoyed the many friendships he made, and his kindly disposition will be sadly miss- ed both here and on his periodic visits to his children at other centres. After a service at St. Matthew's C. of E., the funeral proceeded to the Wauchope Cemetery, Rev. Canon Symonds officiating. Mr. L. J. Pig- gott conducted the funeral arrange ments. Wauchope "Gazette."
