Biography

Frank was born Aug 22, 1921 in Columbus, Georgia. He died July 16, 2004. His father was Willey S. Sweat and mother was Martha E. Priest. In Dec 1937 his name was listed as Frank Gordon Sweat. ^[1]

In 1930, Frank was listed as a son in the household of Willie S. Sweat. The family lived at 68 Rawson Street in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia. In 1930 he was 9 years old and attending school. Frank was born in Georgia as was his father. His mother was born in Florida.^[2]

In 1940, Frank was listed a son in the household of Willie Sweat. He was 18 years old, single, and born in Georgia. He was a truck driver for Parent. The family lived in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia on Fair Street, SE.^[3]

In 1950 Frank was listed as head of household on the Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia Census. The family lived on Crew Street, SW. He was 28 years old and married to Dessie, age 26. Two daughters, Patricia (age 7) and Carolyn (age 3) were listed in the household along with his mother, Martha (age 67 and widowed). Everyone was born in Georgia except for Martha; she was born in Florida. Frank checked freight in a freight terminal and worked 40 hours a week.^[4]
