Biography

Eunice Swinton was born in 1813 in Walton Inferior, Cheshire, England. ^[1]

Eunice married Thomas Longshaw on 26 February 1835 at St Elphin's Church, Warrington, Lancashire (Witnesses were James Longshaw and Mary Swinton) ^[2]

Thomas and Eunice had 9 children and lived at Bridge Cottage, Red Lane, Walton Inferior. ^{[1] [3]}

Thomas died in 1867. In 1871 Eunice was still living on Red Lane with three of her sons. ^[4]

She died on 24 July 1876 aged 62 ^[5]

In her will of 10 July 1876, made just a few weeks before she died, she appointed her brothers Joseph Swinton and John Swinton as executors. She gave fifteen pounds to her son Charles; she gave her daughter Mary her feather bed; and she declared that Joseph Longshaw owed her fifteen pounds for a cow which had to be brought into account in settling her estate. The balance of her estate, which was worth under £100, was divided equally between the six of her nine children who were still alive.
