Child actor known for portraying Alfalfa in Our Gang

Carl was born in 1927. His parents are George Frederick Switzer and Cassie Gladys Shanks. He began his career as a child actor in the mid-1930s. He appeared in the show Our Gang s as Alfalfa, one of the most popular and best-remembered characters in the series.

He married Diantha Musette Collingwood in 1954. They had one son before divorcing in 1956. In January 1959, he was fatally shot by an acquaintance over a dispute about money.
