Birth

Samson Tall was born in Plympton, Devon, England.

Before 6 March 1791

Immigration

The family travelled on the brig Caroline, which left Plymouth on the 17th July 1839. Their arrival at Port Adelaide was 17th December. Samson was a 51-year-old dairyman and farmer, Elizabeth was 49.[3][4]

Elizabeth died on 10 February 1861 at McLaren Vale.

Marriage Two

In 1862, Samson Tall married Ann Pilkington, a widow of Yankalilla. Her father was William Reams. Samson was 71, Ann was 60.[6]

TALL—PILKINGTON.—On the 15th May, at the Wesleyan Chapel, Bethany, near Willunga, by the Rev. Robert C. Flockart, Mr. Samson Tall, of Maclaren Flat, to Mrs. Pilkington, of Yankalilia.[7]

Ann died on 8 February 1873 and was buried with Samson's first wife, Elizabeth, in the cemetery behind the Bethany Wesleyan church.

Death

Samson Tall died on 27 May 1875 at McLaren Vale, South Australia.[8]

TALL.—At Burrington Farm, the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. Fredk. Joseph Giddings, Samson Tall, 87 years of age, an old colonist of 36 years. His end was peace.[9]

He was buried at the Bethany Wesleyan Cemetery near McLaren Vale with his daughter Mary who had died 8 months earlier.[10]
