Revolutionary War

Private Levi Thayer , born 02 Feb 1752 in Braintree, Massachusetts, died Braintree, Orange County, Vermont on June 18, 1812 and his wife Hannah Curtis, are honored by the Daughters of the American Revolution for service: 1) CAPT SETH TURNER, COL BENJAMIN LINCOLN, LEXINGTON ALARM

  1. Their son Zenas Thayer, born May 18 1784, married Sarah Burbidge, born @1792 in Massachusetts. They married @1809 in Braintree, Orange County, Vermont. Zenas and Sarah born died in Braintree Orange Co VT. Zenas died on December 11, 1848 and Sarah died on August 20, 1870.[2]

Served in the U.S. Army during War of 1812. Parents: Levi and Hannah (Curtis) Thayer. Husband of: 1. Esther (Holbrook) Thayer and 2. Sally (Burridge) Thayer.

In the Green Mountain state Zenas Thayer was reared, and having attained his majority he married Sally Burridge, a representative of an old New England family. By this union were born twelve children, five sons and seven daughters. He gave his political support in early life to the Whig party and in the antebellum days was a stanch abolitionist, so that when the Republican party was formed to prevent the further extension of slavery he joined its ranks and continued to follow its banners until his death.

He held membership in the Baptist Church and served as one of its deacons, and passed away at his old home in Vermont when sixty years of age, and his wife Sally also died at the age of sixty years.
