Biography

Mary was born in 1842 in Leicestershire, England. She was the daughter of William Thornley and Martha Gutteridge.^[1]

She married John Herbert Elford on February 27, 1862 in Perth, Lanark, Canada West (Ontario). She was 19 years old, born in England and her parents were William and Martha. He was 22 years old, born in England and his parents were John and Jemima. Both bride and groom were residents of Wellesley, Waterloo county at the time and witnesses were Albert Knight and Elizabeth Elford.^[2]

Mary died April 9, 1902 in Goderich, Huron, Ontario and was buried there in Mailtland Cemetery.^[3]
