William was born about 1814. He was baptised on 1 May 1814 at St James, Westminster, Middlesex, England.
[1]
William married Elizabeth Hill on 28 Jan 1838 at Holy Trinity, Newington, Southwark, England. At this time William was described as a clothier.
[2][3]
In 1851 William and family were residing in Stepney, London at the time of the England Census.
[4]
This 1851 census links William with Liverpool, in that it shows the birth of daughter Jane (calculated 1844) as being in Liverpool. It also affirms the origin of mother Elizabeth as being Gwennap, Cornwall.
In 1861 William and family were residing in Liverpool, Lancashire at the time of the England Census.[5] Daughter Elizabeth was with family. At this census wife Elizabeth Hill identifies birthplace as Penzance, Cornwall. Penzance is a little over 30km from Gwennap. While recollection may have been an issue, Elizabeth's father was a mason/builder and this likely contributed to some itinerance during Elizabeth early years, contributing to this recollection difference.
William now described as Bookkeeper, died on 16 Apr 1884 and was buried on 19 Apr 1884 in a family plot at Toxeth Park Cemetery, Merseyside, Liverpool, England. Other family members; wife Elizabeth and children Anne Louisa and Benjamin Josiah were also buried in this family plot .[6][7]
