Biography

Dr. John Simon Unger, PhD was born in 1865 in Tarentum, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, the son of Jacob Unger and Eliza Unger (not Anna Unger according to John's marriage license (to Elizabeth).

John S. Unger (chemist/metallurgist) married Elizabeth King (Suppes) Unger (schoolteacher 1863-1950) on 28 Apr 1892 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.[1] Their children were:

  1. William Suppes Unger, Sr. (1893-1969)
  2. Alice Suppes (Unger) Lanman (1897-1980 )

He passed away in 1952 in Johnstown and was buried in Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.[2]
