Sold out his interests in Davis County, Iowa, and went to Placerville, California in the Gold Rush, where he worked for two years with moderate success. He then returned to Wapello County, Iowa (and later, Keokuk County), where he farmed for the rest of his life.

Last Will and Testament of Isaac Vanwinkle, Deceased.

I Isaac Vanwinkle of the Township of Benton, County of Keokuk, & State of Iowa, do make and publish and decree this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking any and all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made.

First. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Agnes Vanwinkle all my property real & personal, or mixed, during her natural life.

Second. At the death of my said wife all of my Estate above named is to go and be given according to the law of descent, viz: One Seventh to the children of my deceased son James Vanwinkle, One Seventh to my son Abram Vanwinkle, One Seventh to my son Thomas Vanwinkle, One Seventh to my son Alexander Vanwinkle, One Seventh to my daughter Julamia M. Arganbright, One Seventh to my daughter Anna C. Watts, One Seventh to my daughter Mary C. Arganbright.

Third. I appoint my son-in-law J. W. Arganbright executor of this my last will and it is my desire that no bond shall be required of him.

In Testimony whereof I have signed, sealed and published this as my last will on this Eleventh day of May AD 1894.
