There is a clear record for the the birth of Herman Christoph Viole ^[1]

There is a clear record that he marries Sophia Christina Schlueter in 1782 in Lippe ^[2] Thereafter he disappears from the document record.

There is no birth or marriage record for Johann Christoph Viole. After 1782 this Johann Christoph Viole begins fathering children with Sophia Christina Schlueter, (or Schlueters, or Schlüters etc) in the Lippe area.

It therefore seems highly probable, if not certain, that Wilhem Cristoph Viole and Johann Christoph Viole are one and the same person. Quite possibly Johann is even a birth name which did not get recorded st the time.
