Robert J "Bobby" Vollmer was born December 14, 1960, the son of Robert H and Rosalie Prout Vollmer. He attended local schools. When he was 19 years old, he suffered multiple injuries when his new Kawasaki motorcycle ran head long into a car attempting a left turn at the corner of U S 250 and Judy Avenue, Bridgeport, Illinois. After months of rehabilitation he returned home with the support of his parents and the Lukin community.
Bobby was a partner in the Earth Select Bio Energy of Sumner, chairman of the Buckwheat Growers of Illinois and a board member of the Southeastern Illinois Sustainable Agriculture Association. He was also a board member of the Illinois Sustainable Network and a member of the Illinois Sustainable Agriculture Society, as well as serving on the Governors Agricultural Export Committee. In addition, he wrote a column on sustainable agriculture for the Sumner Press newspaper.
Bobby died of heart failure on April 5, 1995 and was buried at Moffett Cemetery, Lawrence County, Illinois.
Robert was born in 1960. He died in 1995 at the age of 34.
