Biography

Herbert was born in 1888 at Tunbridge, Kent.

He married Elsie Kate Thompson in 1919 in England. Soon after, the couple returned to New Zealand.

Herbert passed away in 1928.

Obituary

PALMERSTON NORTH, Sunday. The death occurred yesterday of Mr. Herbert Thomas Waghorn, a well-known resident of Palmerston North, at the age of 40 years. Mr. Waghorn came to New Zealand nearly 20 years ago. With the exception of the first few months after his arrival, he had been on the staff of Messrs. Dalgety and Company ever since. Attached to the 6th Howitzer Battery he served with the New Zealand Artillery in France during the Great War. He received severe wounds, losing both his legs. Mr. Waghorn had been a Keen follower of all sporting activities, although since the war he had been unable to take an active part in them.
