Biography

Louisa Ann "Laura" Walt was born in 1820 in Ameliasburgh to David and Sarah (Coleman) Walt OR to Amos Augustus and Phoebe (Wanamaker) Walt *. When Louisa married Hiram Crandall of Colborne in 1840 she lived in Ameliasburgh Township. Hiram died in 1841. She married Alexander Peterson in 1842 in Hillier (Ameliasburgh Township), and they lived in Consecon. She bore a son and two daughters. She died in 1848.

• Both couples, Amos and Phoebe Walt and David and Sarah Walt, lived in Ameliasburgh Township in 1820 when Louisa was born. Both Amos and David were witnesses at her wedding in 1840 , and David at her second marriage in 1842. David and Sarah had a son Amos born in 1819-1820. Dan Buchanan at http://www.treesbydan.com/p1253.htm#i34610 guesses that Amos and Phoebe are Louisa's parents. Bill Dunkley in May 2019 in this profile inserted David and Sarah as her parents, but without a primary source. I cannot find a primary source; no baptismal record, and neither marriage record lists parents. Bill is likely correct. --R.S.P. 11/2020.

Louisa/Laura is first recorded as Louisa and that is the name under which she married Hiram Crandall in 1840. Thereafter she is Laura, but a daughter born in 1846 is Mary Louisa. Family histories have "Louisa 'Laura.' "
