Biography

John Courtenay Warren was born 17 June 1920 in Ironwood, Michigan, United State. His parents were John Warren and Mabel (Paull) Warren. He always preferred to be called Corky Warren.

He attended Gogebic High School in Ironwood, Michigan. Then he attended the University of Micigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he received a bachelor and master's degree in Chemical Engineering.

He was initially hired by Dow Chemical Company in Midland, but soon accepted another job for duPont where he worked until he retired,

Corky Warren married Elinor Margaret Kaye on 20 October 1944 in Merced, Merced, California.

They had 5 children.

1. [Warren-4338 | Douglas Paul] Warren. He was born on 21 July 1945 at Saint Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He married Christine Lynn Dunlop on 22 July 1967 in Asbury Park, New Jersey. They had 2 sons: Jeffrey Jay Warren and Jonathan Lee Warren.
2. Diane Lin (Warren) (Greeves) (Everett) Padin. She was born on 8 June 1947 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. First, she married David Greeves, they had 3 children: David Greeves, Samarah Greeves, and Tmothy "Tim" Greeves, but they divorced; then she married Greg Everett, who died from cancer; and finally Lester "Les" Padin.
3. David Bruce Warren. He was born in Woodbury, New Jersey. He married Karen Wetherill. They had 3 children: Timothy "Tim" Warren, Lindsay Warren (Rindler), and Christoper "Chris" Warren.
4. [Warren-24067 | Wendy Kaye] (Warren) Austin. She was born in Woodbury, New Jersey. Wendy had a son Nick Warren. She married Daniel Austin.
5. Scott Courtney Warren. He was born in Woodbury, New Jersey. He married Lisa Zepeda. They had Paul Warren, Rachel Warren, and twins Sam Warren and Emily Warren.

When Doug was 2 years old, just after Diane was born, they moved to Woodbury, Gloucester, New Jersey. He worked at Eastern Laboratory at the Repauno Works in Gibbstown, New Jersey. They produced chemicals used in explosives like dynamite, as well as materials like Dacron. Later he focused mainly on industrial hygiene and safety.

They moved to Rockville, Indiana, where he worked at the duPont plant nearby. Eventually, they moved to Victoria, Texas to work at the plant south of town until his retirement.

He died at age 93 on 17 August 2013 at Sagebrook Health Center, Cedar Park, Williamson, Texas.

Timeline

Sep 2008: He moved from Victoria Texas into a memory care section at Emeritus assisted living in Austin, Texas. He wanted to share a room so he could be together with his wife Elinor, who had Alzheimer's disease.

17 Aug 2013: After a year at Sagebrook Health Center in Cedar Park, TX, John Courtenay ("Corky") Warren died ("Failure to Thrive").

8 May 2019: His wife Elinor Margaret (Kaye) Warren died at Hearthstone Health Center in Round Rock, TX from Alzheimer's disease.

4 Jan 2020: The family held a memorial service and inurnment burial for Elinor and Corky Warren at Memory Gardens in Victoria, Victoria, Texas.

1950 Census In the 1950 census, John (age 29), Chemical Engineer, was married and living at 67 Walnut St in Woodbury, Gloucester, New Jersey with his wife Elinor M Warren, son Douglas (4), and daughter Diane (2).^[1]
