Biography

Date of birth from Source [1]. Records are inconsistent as to whether George's place of birth was Pennsylvania or Maryland. In Source [1] he indicates that he farms in Adams County, PA, but lists his address as Emmitsburg, MD. It seems likely that George, in his early life, lived in rural Adams County, PA very close to the state line, and that Emmitsburg, MD was the closest town.

Date of marriage is an estimate based on the marriage information in census records.
