Jane Warren came free to the Colony of New South Wales (1788-1900)

Biography

Jane was baptised in the parish of Bramshott, the parish lying along the south of Headley and sharing its main rivers, and therefore its paper industry. Her parents were John Warren and Anne Elstone, who were married by banns, 2 June 1827. Both signed in the presence of Mary Elstone & William Elstone. The family of John and Anne can be tracked on the English censuses of 1841 and 1851, which seem to confirm that Jane was the eldest child.

DEATH OF MRS. BARNETT, SEN.
It is our sad duty this week to record the death of Mrs. W. Barnett, which sad event occurred at Pola Creek on Monday last. The deceased lady, who was 70 years of age, succumbed to an attack of inflammation of the lungs. She was born in Hampshire, England, and came to the colony with her husband about 50 years ago. Mrs. Barnett, who was much respected, leaves a husband and ten children to mourn their loss. Her sons are Messrs. William, John, Thomas, Henry, and Albert Barnett. Mesdames T. and J. Robinson, John Hibbard and P. Weiri are daughters of the deceased. The youngest daughter left home some weeks ago to go to West Australia to get married. The funeral took place at Frederickton on Tuesday, and was attended by a large number of mourners, which fact testified in no uncertain manner to the respect and esteem in which the late Mrs. Barnett was held.

IN MEMORIAM.
BARNETT. — In fond and loving memory of our dear mother, Jane Barnett, who departed this life 1st August, 1898, aged 70 years.
All who have a mother, Oh, love her while she stay,
She will not always linger here, too soon she'll pass away.
We never knew a mother's worth, nor missed the love she gave,
Until within the lonely earth her silent form was laid.
Not gone from memory, not gone from love,
But gone to her father's home above.
In love she lived, in peace she died,
We craved her life, but God denied.
Inserted by her loving daughter's — J. Hibbard, E. Robinson, M. A. Weiri, E. Robinson and L. Burridge.
