Son of Moreland Waters and Catherine Love. Husband of Margaret Elizabeth Cisney.

Obituary:

The funeral of James L. Waters was held from his late residence, Burnt Cabins. Rev. G.H.S. Swaine officiating assited by Rev. J.C. Hoch, of Fannetsburg, a relative of this family, and by Rev. J.N. Miller of Shade Gap. His death occurred at his late home, Burnt Cabins, February 19, at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 29 days. During his early life he spent a few years as a boatman between Hollidaysburg and Harrisburg. When a lad of 14 years he was a "driver" on the old canal running through Lewistown. In 1860 he was married to Miss Margaret Elizabeth Cisney, whose death occurred three ago. The union were born six sons and three daughters: Thomas M. Waters and Rosella Jane Stahl of Pittsburgh; Isaac G. Waters of Montevista, Colo.; Charles E. Waters of Lewistown; Mrs. Banks Hambright and James who after serving 18 years and 7 months as a soldier including service with the Indians at Cripple Creek and also serving as an officer during the Spanish American War, met with an untimely death while bathing in a swimming pool in California 15 years ago. The deceased father was a resident of Dublin Township, Huntingdon County, for 52 years during which time he served as school director, road supervisor for 10 years and as constable for three years. He was a charter member of the P.O.S. of A. Camp of Burnt Cabins, where he held membership for __ years. On account of his long and strenuous life he was greatly missed when the cares of old age kept him from taking an active part in public affairs.
