Biography
In about 1929, Steve Watts (age 56) moved the family to Mt. Ida, Arkansas where "his brother in law, Frank Hale, was Montgomery County Sheriff" .... In the 1930 census for "Southfork township", in Montgomery county, Arkansas. Steven D. Watts job is listed, "deputy to the Sheriff Office" ... Their youngest child, Paul M. "Buster" Watts, age 14, went to school at Mt. Ida for 1 year .... according to his daughter Jana Ragland.
Buster said, the "family was about to starve to death", before they moved from Searcy county -to- Montgomery county .... Times were hard, a hundred years ago ...
Buried in Western Grove cemetery .. Newton county, Arkansas
