Communication Preferences: I am interested in communicating private message with anyone who shares the same ancestors. My family tree is here on WikiTree but it's private.
Because I started years ago using Original English documents from my grandparents, and continued researching to find ancestors and where they hailed from. If someday my descendants want to find out more about the history of the family, this is a great way to be part of a collaborative effort that helps everyone and hopefully the information will be just waiting for their search.

Since realising the benefits of WikiTree, I have completed the Profile Improvement Voyage, the Orphan Trail I and Orphan Trail II and joined the England Project where 99.9% of my ancestors were from.

Hello Julie,

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing a check-in. The Project operates in a team structure with these participant PIP Teams -- The Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and three Biography Teams. There is also the Voyage Team which guides new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team.

You're currently identified as a member of the Biography Team, working on profiles from your watchlist and other profiles that interest you. The other two Biography Teams work on Abandoned and Popular profiles from the provided lists. Please let us know if you are content with your current Team or would like to change to one of the others.

If you have not already done so, we invite you to join the email GoogleGroup. We use the WikiTree Discord server #profile-improvement channel for our project. Neither is required; we also use the Profile_Improvement tag in G2G for Project announcements.

We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project meet its goals. We would like to hear about the successes you’ve had and would also appreciate any feedback you have to help improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or via private message to one of us.

Sincerely,

Debi Hoag and Kay Knight, Co-Leaders, Profile Improvement Project

Hi Debi

I enjoy being part of the Profile Improvement Project and working on Biographies. I'd also be happy to work on Abandoned if there is a list I can access. I have been on Discord on occasion but think maybe the google group may suit me better. Thanks for keeping me up to date, I appreciate the work you all do, Regards Julie

Thank you, Julie!

We use the GoogleSheet linked on the Abandoned Team page to track the profiles that the PIP Abandoned Team members work on. We ask that you work on at least one profile per week.

You've been added to the GoogleGroup and can ask questions there, in the #profile_improvement channel on the main WT server at Discord, or send me a private message via WT, email, or Discord.

Hi Julia

We are delighted to announce a new Profile Improvements Team namely the England Tangled Families Team which will be formed by merging the Arborists, Gedcoms and Unknown Teams,

As we know tangled families are created from old GEDCOM’s which cover many generations resulting in the need to merge profiles and having to disconnect others together with finding unknown spouses and family members.

The merging of the existing three teams into one exciting new team will hopefully reduce duplications and definitely will increase collaboration between you our experienced and dedicated members.

Team Leader for the England Tangled Families Team will be Fran Weidman who has agreed to manage the team bringing her excellent knowledge and experience from creating and managing the Unknowns Team together with Fran’s five year membership of the England Project.

Currently as a member of one or more of the named teams we are asking you to join our new amalgamated Tangled Families Team and letting us know by contacting Joan Williams or Malc Rowlands through Discord Messaging, England Project Google Group or Private WT Message if you want to join our new team.

Kind regards

Joan and Malc

We also welcome any feedback on things you would like to see the project do more of in the future.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message.

Hi Joan

I am enjoying adding to the ancestors in the England project and dipping into the unknowns to try and find the elusive women's names. One thing I'd love to see added is an occupation field as some families with common names I have resorted to identifying them by "cooper" or "baker". I will have to look and see what other teams I can join. Thanks for all you do and for the contact. I have tried discord but don't really know what I'm doing there. Cheers Julie

Thanks Julie,

Your feed back is useful and I can hear what you are saying about occupations. I can be interesting watching how sons follow the same occupation as their father through several generation. Discord is not for everyone, but if you are able to master it, then its a great place for collaboration. Thank you again for all you are doing on WikiTree. Regards Joan

Dear Julie,

On behalf of the England Project, I would like to thank you for all your contributions towards the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve English profiles!

I'd also like to share our annual Newsletter with you. You can read it here: England Project Newsletters. We hope you enjoy reading a bit about what has gone on in 2022 and what our Project has achieved.

The England Project Leaders like to touch base with each of our members every 6 months just to make sure everything is going well. There's no need to reply to this message unless you have something you'd like to let us know about (e.g. if you would like to change your team choices or provide other feedback). We will be in touch with you again in the middle of next year when we do our annual check-in with project members.

On behalf of all the Leaders, I wish you a peaceful and productive 2023.

Best wishes,

Hi Julie,

I wrote to you recently as part of the England Project's six-monthly check-in with our project members. I haven't heard back from you. I hope you are well.

If you could please drop me a quick note to confirm whether you are still interested in the project and wish to remain an active member, that would be very helpful.

If we do not hear from you within the next 2 weeks, we will assume you are no longer active in the England Project and remove you from our list of project members. You would be most welcome to re-apply to join the project at a later time by signing-up on the project’s G2G welcome post.

Many thanks!

Dear Julie,

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing its first annual check-in with our project members. We are in the process of transitioning to a team structure. There will be three participant PIP Teams to start -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. There is also the Voyage Team who guide new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team. Please let us know which team(s) you would like to participate in.

We would also like to invite you to join the email GoogleGroup and text chat Discord channel for our project. (When you request to join our GoogleGroup, please be sure to include your Wiki ID). You will find more information on the GoogleGroup.

We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project and WikiTree. The Project’s mission is to:

Make profiles beautiful! We clean up messy biography sections and sources, and try to set standards for attractive, useful, and well-written biographies, starting with those we manage.

We know you’re working on profiles *smile* We would like to hear about successes you’ve had toward the Project’s goals. We would also appreciate any feedback you might have to help us improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or privately via private message to either of us.

Sincerely,

Hi Julie,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.

Hi Julie,

I would like to thank you for all your contributions towards the goals of the England Project during the past six months. We've achieved a huge amount during this period and we couldn't have done it without you and our other project members.

As the England Project Leaders, we are completing our six monthly check-in with all project members.

Are you happy to stay in your current project teams? Which teams are you most active in? Are there other teams you would like to join or become more active in?

Also, do you have any feedback on what the project is doing well and anything we could do better in the future?

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hey Julia,

Thanks again for signing the Honor Code some time ago. I wanted to check in with you to see how things are going. How do you like WikiTree so far? Have the tips in the New Member How To Pages been helpful or have they left you with questions?

Thanks for adding so many profiles already. I see you are busy in England. We have a great England project, with a lot of help pages and a free online training how to find and cite sources. You might be interested.

Please let me know if you have any questions about WikiTree. To contact me, log in to WikiTree and go to your profile. Use the Reply link below my comment to be sure that I will be notified. You can also click my name to send a private message, or post a comment on my profile page if you really prefer. It's really is great to have you on board.

Michel ~ WikiTree Messenger

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Hi Julia,

It's good to see you active at WikiTree again. Thanks for taking responsibility for the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

If the profile needs GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

If you have any questions about how WikiTree works, let me know by using the "reply" link for this comment or by clicking my name to visit my profile. From there you can leave a comment or send a private message.

Hi Julia,

The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.

If you have any questions about how WikiTree works, log into WikiTree and go to your profile. Use the ‘Reply’ link below my comment. Alternatively, click my name to visit my profile. From there, you can leave a comment, or send a private message.

PS There is a tool that can help with cleaning up GEDCOM created biographies. It lets you concentrate on the genealogy rather than the formatting. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Hi, Julia!

I am pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

It is best to start with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration. Have a look at our Sources page it is also helpful.

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

See you in the branches.

Laura ~ WikiTree Greeter 🙂
