Hi, I've added you to Baillargeon-440 as manager. Her son is notable. I don't think she is. Still did it. If so, I have a bunch of Quebec celebs and their families I'll have to add you to.

Hi Ken, thanks for adding the Notables Project as manager to the profile. As a living family member of a Living Notable, she does need to be managed by a Project.

To determine if you manage any other profiles that require management by a Project, please see these help pages.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Living_Notables AND https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Requirements_of_Working_with_Individuals_who_are_Notable

To request management by the Notables Project of any Living Notable profiles or living family members of Living Notables, see this section on the Notables Project Management Request Form

Regards, Margaret, Project Coordinator, Notables Project.

You told me to add you as managers of Viel-80 and Van Steenberghe-7, so I did. I have removed myself from their profiles. Have fun! Hope I didn't violate their privacies in a bad way!

Sincerely, Casimer III

Your page on WikiTree The following was sent via the private messaging system on WikiTree.com.

Can we get Blalock-1148 opened a little? She has over 20 Wikipedia pages so seems to meet the minimum requirements of notability.

I have recently established a profile on Blaine Luetkemeyer, who serves as a U.S. Representative for the 3rd District of Missouri. Following the publication of Luetkemeyer-26, I encountered a distinct obstacle where the privacy setting was unalterable. Blaine possesses a Wikipedia article and a personal page on the United States House of Representatives website, which both meet the criteria for being notable.

I've added quite a lot of ancestors to Matthew Perry's profile last week (the ones from Québec on his mother's side). I have done that to quite a few notables when I realized they had ancestors from Québec. I don't know if I need to join the Notables Project but I'd like to be notified before they get featured so they are more complete upon their "release". I understand Matthew Perry's profile featuring might have been unplanned but I can still help at the last minute.

I've worked on Dan Aykroyd's and Nathan Fillion's profiles, among others but numerous Quebec artists, which I don't have the Notables tag).

Thanks.

Please look into the comments I left on Jimmy Page. Most of his father's side is incorrect based on his biographies. Have added profiles for his family. Just need to connect them. Happy to amend biography if added to trusted list. Many thanks in advance!

I have added a couple of profiles for distant relatives that seem to qualify as "Notables".

Now I am getting Data Doctor suggestions, i.e. Error 933, saying a project box is required. The help sections seems to talk in circles as if it is only intended to help people who already understand it. I can't find a simple example of a Project Box to see how to create one. For example: Lonnie Mack was a Musician, popular guitarist, who happened to marry my cousin. I have included links to his Wikipedia and Wikidata. Now do I create the "Project Box" for him? How? What's it look like?

Also DeRobigne Mortimer Bennett, famous journalist.

posted by Harvey Ross II
When a project manages (or co-manages) a profile, the profile requires a Project Box (placed above the Biography heading) rather than a Project Sticker (placed below the Biography heading). This applies to all projects, not just Notables. Otherwise you will get an error message. I made the change on Lonnie Mack's profile so you can see what I'm talking about.

That said, except on rare occasions, the Notables Project no longer manages profiles of deceased individuals. Our focus now is on managing the profiles of Living Notables. Thus, in Lonnie's case, the Notables Project should be removed as a co-manager, and the box should be returned to a sticker.

So, this will satisfy the Error 933?

and what about the Catagories and/or sub catagories like "Musician", "Guitarist"?? and D.M. Bennett?

posted by Harvey Ross II
Yes, the error says if you have a project managing the profile you need to have a profile box. You have two possible resolutions: add the box or remove the project as a profile manager. Either will fix the error.

As for categories, this is a complex topic but not a critical one, so feel free to develop your skills slowly. There are literally 1000s of categories to choose from and they cover a wide range of topics, from occupations to locations, to religions, to awards, to cemeteries, and so on. The easiest way to get the hang of this is to click on the categories button at the top of the edit box. [Look for a string of buttons starting with B and ending with C. It's the box to the left of the C.] Click the button and you'll get a search box. Type in any key word (say: guitar, Dearborn, or even McIntosh) and it will give you a list of suggestions. Click on a suggestion and it will place it in the profile for you. That's it. Feel free to experiment. What categories you choose is up to you.

I have more than 50,000 descendants of Edmund Ingalls in my Legacy genealogy program. He came to the USA in 1628. This includes Laura Ingalls Wilder. I am too old and do not have time to do what it looks like WikiTree requires to add any of this data to this site. Is there anyone who might want to work on this?
posted by Jay Ingalls
Hi Jay, I understand what you're saying. The GedCompare is time consuming but necessary so that we don't create duplicates on the site. I don't believe you can do more than 5,000 at one time, and even that number is very overwhelming. Personally I would not go over 500 and maybe 1,000 at the absolute most, as there are time constraints that can cause the import to expire and then you would have to start all over again. Is there any way you might be able to break the Gedcom export from your program into smaller chunks and possibly you could do a few, and we could find some others to help process a few? That would make it so that others could participate and not be overwhelmed by a 5,000 name import that would take a great deal of their time. Or maybe we can find a way to solicit participants for such an activity on G2G as a part of the Notables project and make it like one of the marathon (thon) activities that are run occasionally. If you have other ideas, I'm open to how we can help attempt to get as many of these names into the system as possible. Thanks.
Edmund Ingles already has a profile on WikiTree (Ingles-52). He is also already a part of the Great Migration Project and they may be a more appropriate project to help you. He also has a current CC7 of over 86,500, which means a huge number of his family members already have WikiTree profiles which should reduce the workload quite significantly. You can find a link to the Great Migration Project on Edmund's profile page.

Would my ancestor Witherspoon-160, be considered a notable? He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and the president of Princeton University.
posted by Levi Hubeler
If he has a Wikipedia page, he would be considered a Notable. If not, then there are additional checks we can do to determine if he may meet Notable status. According to his profile page, he does have a Wikipedia page, so I would recommend placing the Notable Sticker on his profile. It would go below the Biography line and start with two opening curly brackets followed by Notables Sticker followed by two closing curly brackets and look like

I am related to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_Rodgers but I don't know if I can connect to her on here since she is still living.

I dont have much of my fathers side added to the tree because I am reluctant to just add people willy-nilly and I thought having a notable person in my tree might help make it easier to add (merge) or connect to more of my family.

posted by Julie (Rodgers) Leeds
Hi Julie - as far as I can tell, we don't even have her profile on WikiTree. You are free to create one for her and build her tree, but with a Notable who is still living, we request that you add Notables as a co-manager, as it makes it simpler if a duplicate is created (which happens far too often) that the project team can help maintain the global tree. Thanks!

I am trying to connect George V. Voinovich to the tree, is his wife's profile black privacy because she is still alive, or has she not been found?
posted by Dallace Moore
Not a clue. I have no access to her profile. I'd look at who created his profile and search for his wife's name under that person's management, and you'll probably find the answer you're seeking.
posted by Scott Fulkerson
It appears that the wife's profile was recently created by Hendershot-432. The profile is Allan-4682. I will ask to have Notables added to the profile so that we can help manage it, but it would have to remain black privacy until it was proven that she passed away.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but could work be done on Michael J. Fox's profile (Fox-4897)? One of my aunts just got diagnosed with Parkinson's yesterday (thankfully caught early, but she's currently in the hospital because she has possible diabetic paralysis -- she suddenly found she couldn't move her legs and fell, but thankfully only got a scrape on her arm -- tests are being made), my great grandma had it, she had English ancestry (Michael has Irish, English, and Scottish ancestry according to his Wiki page), and -- if I remember correctly out of the many profiles I've made along my family tree journey -- I had one or a few family members who once lived in Edmonton, so I'm curious to see if we're distant cousins.
posted by Jennifer Fulk
Michael J. Fox's ( https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Fox-4897 ) profile has been opened to viewing privacy levels, so that his basic information can be seen. However, his family is another matter. His father ( https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Fox-4898 ) is in a "green" privacy lock (can see all information, but cannot edit without permission from the Profile Manager) and his mother ( https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Pollan-9 ) is set as "Still Living", which means her profile is completely Private. Neither his father nor his mother are in the control of the Notables Project, so there is little the project can do to assist. If you have an interest in working on his family, you would need to request permission of the Profile Manager.

Eklund-228 is NOT the actress Britt Eklund, that's Eklund-399.
posted by Jessica Key
I see that now, but I also see that there is conflicting information. 3 of the 4 sources on her profile point to the actress, while the 4th is the birth record you mention. In order to get Eklund-399 open, can you please add Notables as co-manager of that profile so that we can get it to Yellow privacy? (address is wikitree-notables-project at googlegroups dot c-o-m) - Thanks!

I'll see what I can do with Eklund-228 to note on the profile that this is not the actress and remove the Notables template from the profile.

Hi Sandra - one of the requirements is to have at minimum 3 Wikipedia articles about the individual to open a profile. I don't think she meets that requirement, but I'll go back and verify.

Can someone from the Notables projects connect one of the daughters of Dorothy Helen (Ruth) Pirone [Ruth-4]? And connect her first husband, Daniel. Ellen Marie Ruth (Sullivan) Hourigan [Sullivan-15394] was one of her daughters from her first marriage to Daniel J. Sullivan. My (now ex) SIL had told me her mom's maiden name was Pirone, but I guess it was Sullivan. I left a note on Dorothy's page but not sure how often things get looked at.
Travers-493 is the same as Travers-380. Mary was my half-sister - we shared the same mother, Virginia Allin Coigney (Allin-200). These two profiles are definitely her and should be merged. (There is a rejected merge of these two profiles but the rejection was incorrect.) I might add that Virginia's family name was Copeland, her own father is a bit of a mystery, but is listed sometimes as "Allin", her first husband was Robert Travers (Mary's father), her second husband was Herman E. Cooper (my father), and her third husband was Rudolph Coigney, from whom she was divorced when she died. And finally, Mary has two children, b. Erika Fuller and b. Alicia Feinstein.

The date of Mary's death should be Sept. 16, not 19. Mary's father is not "unknown Cooper" (that was my father, not hers). Her father shown on Travers-380 is correct.

Ann (Cooper) Gordon (Cooper-14488).

I am trying to fix the Categories as part of the Categorization team for the following two profiles:

Aghassian-1 Marzbani-1 They are using a Category Iran (?????? ?????? ?????) that is being renamed. I need to know if the profiles are in English, Persian, or Farsi and put the proper Category on these profiles. Both Profiles are part of the Notables project. Would someone with access to these profiles please change the Category to "Category:Iran" if the Profiles are in English. If not English, let me know what language they are in. Are these Profiles of deceased or living persons? If deceased, they should be open.
