Private in the all-black 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry regiment, Company H. Enlisted on 15 December 1863 from New Haven, Connecticut. He was 20 years old, single and working as a laborer. He died on 30 June 1864 due to diarrhea at the regimental hospital on Morris Island.
