Biography
Catherine was the daughter of Thomas Winner and Elizabeth Ann Burton.
She married Edwin W. McClain in 1875. They had seven children. The 1900 census lists 5 children: Lucy, Chesley, Katie, Floyd and Mert. However, her obituary states she had 6 surviving children.
Catherine died on Nov. 30, 1900. [1]
Obituary
Mrs. Catherine McClain, wife of E W McClain, died at her home in this city, Friday, Nov. 30th of typhoid fever. The deceased was born in Illinois, July 1, 1856, making her 44 years and 5 months of age.
Mrs. McClain came to Sidney from Keith Co., with her husband and family in November of last year and have since resided here. The sympathy of our citizens is extended to the husband and 6 children who survive. The funeral was held Sunday, Rev. W. L. Austin conducting the services. [2]
