Biography

Paulene was probably born in 1868 in Germany. She was the daughter of Gottlieb Witte and Gertrud Frietag.

She married Martin Bosack (alternate spellings include Bosick, Bossick, Bosik, Babsock...) about 1886 ^[1] as married for 14 years.

They appear in the 1900 census of Huron, Wayne, MI ^[1] as 'Martin Bossack' (machine read as 'Ma* Bobsack') with wife 'Paulene'

Paulene b. Feb 1868 Germany, age 32, Nat 1885, mom of 7, 7 alive

Their family included 7 children at the time:

She passed away in 1907. Her death certificate is available on Ancestry.com (see image provided) which ties her to her parents Gotliep Witte and Gertrud 'Friday' (English version of 'Frietag'). Pauline died in child birth in 1907 after having addition children based on the 1910 census of Huron Township, Wayne, MI ^[2]

She is buried along with her huband sharing a headstone which notes: 'Pauline his wife 1869-1907' ^[3]

Research Notes

There are conflicting birth dates given in records but all with the range of 1868 and 1871. But given the birth year of 1885 in the death record of their probable first son August, it is unlikely she would have a child before she was 16. ^[4]
