Biography
James served in the Royal Navy.
Married Ann Love. [1]
Emigrated from Scotland to Prince Edward Island in 1771 with his wife and children. Petitioned the government for additional land in 1787: "Brought his family to Prince Town in 1771. Has two eight acre lots but finds it difficult to support his large family of eleven. Requests part of the land set aside for Loyalists and disbanded troops in Lot 16 if there is any land ungranted. Requests 500 acres as well as a lease of occupation on Lot 16 of 200 acres in the center between John Brown (younger) and Donald Campbell fronting Richmond Bay, eastward " [2]
James' will names his wife Ann; sons Archibald, John, James and Andrew; daughters Rebecca Thompson, Margaret Donald, and Agnes Simpson. Deceased son William, and Williams daughter Barbara. [3]
