Will of Samuel Woodson, Goochland Co., Va.
for the purpose of paying lawful debts my executors after my decease at such time or times and on such terms and conditions as they (or such of them may act) shall think best, shall sell and convey as much of my estate either real or personal as may be sufficient to pay sd. lawful debts; balance of estate real and personal to be kept together for purpose of supporting wife Elizabeth & family and for educating my children at the discreation of my executors until the death of my dear wife. After marriage of my daughters or either of them or the arrival of my sons or either of them at lawful age, their support under my will will be considered as ended to such daughter or daughters as may marry or to such son or sons as they arrive to age, if any of these events happen previous to the death of my wife .
After death of dear wife executors to sell whole estate real & personal and convey same to purchaser or purchasers and money arising therefrom to be equally divided between my children, namely; Sally P. Lewis, Judith Woodson, George Tucker Woodson, Samuel Woodson, Fielding Woodson & Elizabeth Woodson or their legal representatives of my before names six children, leaving out in all cases my two grandchildren Deborah & Mary Woodson, children of my son Robert H. Woodson as I had given son Robert in his life time his full share of my estate; son-in-law Warner Lewis and friends Isaac Curd and William Miller executors and sd. Warner Lewis guardian of all my children under age. Witnesses: Jno. Curd, Tho. Curd, Archer Pledge.
Dated May 12, 1810. Codicil: Lydia Pierce daughter of Milly Pierce one-half acres of land to be laid off to her from such part of my land in Goochland as my executos may direct and executors at the expense of my estate to cause a dwelling house thereon to be built of £20 value in consideration of her faithful services in my family.
